Today we constructed the shielding for the area surrounding the Tiny Tot solid fuel stove. The stove will be located on the rear passenger-side wheel well, behind the bathroom.

We began by cutting 1/2" cement board to size, and followed by cutting 26ga sheet steel oversized by about an inch. The extra metal allows us to bend the edges to fold over the sides of the cement board for a more finished appearance.
1" spacers were cut from 1/2" black iron pipe. 1/2" washers on the spacers help distribute the point load on the cement board.
We pre-drilled the metal/cement board panel and fastened it with 3/8" lag screws through the spacers. This leaves the required 1" air gap between the panel and the combustible surface. We also maintained a 1" gap between the perimeter of the panel and the adjascent walls.
Repeat the process for the bathroom wall. The panel must be at least as tall as the stove.
