July 26, 2007: Navajo National Monument (AZ), Sipapu (NM), and Cripple Creek, Colorado
We spent two nights at Navajo National Monument, enjoying the silence and solitude of it's high desert location. You can camp for free at the monument for up to 7 days each year. There are a few short hikes that begin (and end) at the visitor's center. This photo was taken from Canyon View Trail.
We spent the next night on public lands near Cuba, New Mexico.
Heading north from Sipapu, we stopped over at DeWeese Reservoir for the night.
We finally arrived at our destination...Lost Burro Campground, about 4 miles outside of Cripple Creek, Colorado. Our bus is hiding among the trees...stealth mode!
Wonderful view of rock formations and the rest of the campground. We highly recommend this campground if you are in the area and need lodging (they have cabins and tent-camping sites too).
